First and foremost, I am a professor of English (thus the 'prof' part of the equation, but I have recently rediscovered a long-dormant love of film photography (and there is the 'shutter' part of the title).

I make photographs primarily for my own enjoyment, but I also share them here on my website, on my social media feeds (primarily on BlueSky and Flickr), and through a public art project I have called Art is Everywhere where I leave small 2"x3" prints around with a note reading "Art is everywhere. Take me!" in hopes that the work will be found and enjoyed by passing strangers.

I have had a couple of my pieces published, one in an anthology by Prolific Pulse Press called Unhoused: Yearning for Home and soon I will have two pieces appear in the Photozine Collective's newest publication, Convergence. In May 2026, I was interviewed by Martin and Sandeep, hosts of the Photowalk Talk podcast. I am not a professional photographer; I am an enthusiastic amateur who strives always to grow in my craft.
