We are fortunate to live in a building that backs up to the edge of woods that border Gunpowder Falls State Park. We also put out birdseed and food for the squirrels. All sorts of animals have figured this out, so we get a whole host of birds, deer, rabbits, turtles, foxes, and raccoons coming down out of the forest. The windows facing the woods are like a running nature documentary.

Yesterday, I went out with the Nikon N80 with the 70-300mm zoom. The camera was loaded with Kodak Gold that I developed in Cinestill CS41 chemistry and scanned with the Epson V600.

I got few shots of the mimosa tree (which I’ve always thought looks like something out of Dr. Seuss) then took a seat on the rocker on the porch and waited. My husband brought out his digital camera and joined me. We were not disappointed. The birds came down as did the squirrels. I used up my film on them, and immediately several deer and a raccoon appeared! So no photos of them, but I delighted in watching them eat.

I feel so fortunate to have close-up access to the natural world. It never gets old!
